Why both too much or too little energy can hurt your game
Not every match feels the same.
In some matches, you feel tired. In others, you’re too pumped up.
Both can hurt your game.
When your energy is too low, you’re tired, slow, and unfocused.
Your brain isn’t really switched on, so your feet are slow, you’re late to the ball, and you play too safely.
When your energy is too high, you’re emotional, rushed, and frustrated.
You overhit, lose focus, and you start thinking about the score or result.
The goal is in the middle: focused, confident, and locked in.
It’s where you play your best tennis. Not half asleep, not running on adrenaline. Just present and in control.
During a match, notice where you are.
If you’re too low on energy, bring it up.
Use strong body language even if you don’t feel it. Jump between points. Pump your fist. Talk to yourself with energy.
If you’re too pumped up, calm yourself down.
Take a deep breath. Relax your shoulders. Slow down between points.
The more time you spend in that green zone, the better you play. 🙂
